Need for Police Escort

Here, we are walking to the High school, escorted by a National Guard Officer on October 15, 1957. Without him, we would probably have been attacked by the white students in the picture. This picture was taken a month after we started going to the school. People were still against us being there so we needed an officer to escort us.
