Greatest Contribution to the Civil Rights Movement
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, usually abbreviated as NAACP, is an African-American civil rights organization in the United States, formed in 1909. Its mission is "to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination". Its name, retained in accordance with tradition, uses the once common term colored people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Association_for_the_Advanceme...
NAACP is a great program. I am a proud member. The NAACP helped us win Supreme court cases including Brown v. Board of Education which stopped segregation in all public schools. I would like to thank you for allowing me to be a special counsel member in 1934. Also thank you for awarding me with the NAACP's Spingarn Medal in 1950.
In 1961, I decided to submit an application to the University of Mississippi which was completely closed to African American students. After my application was rejected twice the NAACP helped me challenge the school's segregation rule. With this groups persistence, I was accepted into the University in October, 1962. Thank you for all of your support because without the NAACP, I wouldn't have made this much of a difference.
To have served as the program director for this organization was such a pleasure. Unfortunately, as you know, I must leave my position. CORE has requested that I help them in organizing an event and has reelected me to be the National Director. I believe that I must take every action necessary that can help us make any amount of progress. Thank you.

Thank you so very much for awarding me with the prestigious Spingarn Medal in 1961 and recognizing my research on social problems and such.
