Mr. X.  Is this your only name?

Dear Mr. X,

Will you be posting any vacation photos from Mecca?

No ma'am, "Mr.X" is not my only name. Although that "X" is just one letter for a name, it represents what my old one can't; the name that should've been bestowed upon me by my ancient African ancestors. So forgive me if I don't seem to be too keen with aliases, but Mr.X always did fit me best.

Did you want to explain about your other name? (and explain why you have another name?)

After leaving the Nation of Islam, I became apart of the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca (then Saudi Arabia) and I converted to traditional Islam. After converting I changed my name to "El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz."

How would one pronounce this name?  Arabic: الحاجّ مالك الشباز‎),  (Hint, a video might help where you could actually hear it.  You were such an articulate man.)

I do understand where you are coming from, but violence will never be the answer. My goal isn't to just have equal rights but to also have peace and violence for any reason will push us away from tranquility.

Well if the revolution was about keeping tranquility sacred rather than making a change by any means necessary then I guess you are 100% percent right. However, let me help you understand the real world we live in. We live in a world of lynching, hate crimes, racism, and segregation. So while you are making sure your people feel peaceful and comfortable, I'll be thinking about how I could have really helped these peaceful and comfortable people after they are lying in their peaceful and comfortable grave.

Well the racial problems in the U.S. shouldn't be violent because as my partaking in the Greensboro Sit-Ins, in which we didn't retaliate to attacks by Whites, suggests I am for non violent retaliation and resistance and I believe that Whites are treating us unfairly and everything should be integrated and everyone should be treated fairly therefore being treated the same, no matter what color.

What a stupid name Malcolm X is. Go back to Africa you stupid monkey!

At 7:28am on June 14, 2013, Martin Luther King Jr said…

Yes, I understand that and I completely agree with you. Everything that is happening to us is one hundred percent wrong. Nobody should be treated they way we have been treated. I just feel like my people should still feel peaceful and comfortable even if everyone around them is not. I feel as though we can have equal rights without repugnant violence on our behalf, but I do understand where you're coming from. My main goal was to have peace for both whites and blacks. I just wanted everyone no matter what color to get along and live among each other instead of being segregated. But again, I am aware of everything that has gone on and it makes me sick to stomach. I wish I could get an answer to why one human being could treat another human being like that but there will never be a real one.

I apologize for choosing such a name. See, while you look down on me from the porcelain throne of pride that you sit on, I am making changes. I'm bringing and encouraging a new generation while you occupy your time attempting to kill the old one. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to consider how my name affects people or whether or not I should be named by an animal. So thank you for the suggestion on the name change but I think monkeys have the ability to understand what's best for them, while bulls get excited about a color.

Dear Malcolm, What connection did we have in the civil rights movement?

You along with many others are fellow activists in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. I am willing to become friends with any person that has the same devotion to get equal rights for all American citizens especially African-Americans.
